PERSONALITY:

Bravado.
— Kirk is unquestionably confident in his own ability and is the text book definition of self-assured. He’s a man who leaps before he looks. He’s daringly brave and tends to take charge in most situations — whether or not he’s qualified to do this or not. This is a man who willingly wants to go into the vastness of the unknown that is space and leave his mark. If the world is going down in flames, he’ll take in stride. Fear doesn’t exist in Jim Kirk’s vocabulary.

Tenacious.
— He’s not the type to falter when the going gets tough and will do everything he can to make sure things goes the way he want. Failure is not an option for Jim Kirk. Even after exhausting every scenario, he’s not the sort to give up. He’s a man who bypasses the Kobayashi Maru program (by going as far as cheating, breaking regulations and even sleeping with someone) to gain a victory in a no win scenario.

Charismatic
— Kirk oozes with charm. He’s often found running his quick mouth - whether it’s to talk hirs way out of a situation or trying to smooth talk someone into bed with him. Kirk has a way with people. He doesn’t always use his charms for fun and games, he equally tries to use it to inspire good in people or cause them to do the right thing.

Caring.
— Kirk is, in truth, a real bleeding heart. He finds it very difficult to not give a shit. He’s the type of guy to get really upset when he sees mistreatment. Kirk is a man with an unshakable moral frame work. He’s big on empathy, doing good and inspiring others to do the same. He’ll risk diplomacy and even his own rank in order to save lives or better a situation. He wears his emotions on his sleeve quite brazenly.

Stubborn.
— Jim is an old hand at not budging until he gets what he wants. Often times, compromise isn’t a trait that doesn’t quite come naturally to him. Because, he’s used to his own world view of doing everything you can, he doesn’t take too kindly to people who do things with only half their heart into it. He doesn’t know when to quit. He’s died for his principles once already and he’d totally do it again. Jim will be one of the most bullheaded people you’ll ever come across.

Reckless.
— Kirk is impulsive. He operates on hunches and guesses versus waiting for data. He goes with his gut. Combined with his charisma, he's the sort to not only throw himself off a cliff but the type of person who'd ask you to do same thing. He rolls with the punches. Speaks before he thinks and lives on impulse. What's reward without risk after all?

Trouble Maker.
— Jim Kirk, is for all purposes, a little shit. He's magnetised towards trouble. There's a reason that Bones punctuates with the phrase - damnit, jim. There's very little Kirk isn't willing to do to get his way. Regulations are a joke to him and he has a tendency to think he's above it all. Even death. Pike has referred to him as, "the only genius level repeat offender in the midwest."

His only real power is to give Bones a migraine from far away.

What no one tells you about space, is that there's a surprising amount of down time. There are lulls, between fending off the Federation enemies and trying to explore uncharted territory, where the enterprise keeps to a steady pace. Easing in and out of the darkness of space. He wouldn't trade it for the world. The rush of discovery humming between his veins and making him feel electric every time. Still, even he's subject to slow a day once in a while.

He's clocked out of the Captain's chair for now, leaving Spock in charge of the brig. He's made it so that the ship always has someone in command, but enough where the crew gets to catch up. It's his job to make sure his best men have a steady circadian rhythm of rest between them.

There's a harbor planet a few lightyears back if he really feels like the cabin fever is getting to him, but it hasn't peaked yet.

He takes the elevator down to medical, where he finds Bones fussing over an ensign. Kirk's made it a point to memorise everyone's names. He's got a rough directory of everyone on his ship tucked away in his head, but sometimes a few people slip by. He tries. That should account for something.

It's a shame too, because the man -- woman? Kirk isn't a hundred percent sure. They're all cheekbones and androgyny is an utter sight and he grins almost cattishly when he sits down next to them.

"Let me know if Lieutenant Commander McCoy is causing you any amount of grief," he remarks playfully. "You're going to be nice, aren't you -- Bones?"
